Who does not love their smartphone? Everyone does. But what if it is stolen? Afraid? Well, you don’t need to be, because I can help you out if your smartphone runs on Android OS. There are plenty of apps that might help you to recover lost android phone but I have listed out the 5 Best ones according to the priority! I would give highest priority to the first app and lowest to the last one. You can try out these apps in the same order, if you are still unable to recover your stolen android phone, drop a comment below 🙂
1. Lookout Security & Antivirus
This is a famous app which will let you track your phone using Google maps even if GPS is not enabled. Login to myLookout.com and trace your phone. Once you are close within the area where your phone lies, activate the alarm which would ring aloud and there you find your phone and the thief! Do not worry if your phone is in silent mode, the alarm will still ring aloud! Apart from this, the app comes with some excellent security features like antivirus and data back up for your Android phone.

You can do this if you have your phone in your hand, but what could you do when you have already lost it? Lookout has another app for that and it’s Plan B.
Plan B is the ‘find my phone’ app that you download AFTER you lose your phone. To track your Android phone, you need to install it on your phone from Android market using this link. Once it is installed, the location of the phone will be sent to your Gmail address automatically. To locate again after 10 minutes, borrow a friend’s phone and text the word “locate” to your lost phone. However, you must be connected to the Mobile network to install this app on your phone.
2. Where’s My Droid
Where’s My Droid is yet another application which performs the same function. But it replies you with the location of your phone using GPS. The reply contains the latitude and longitude details along with a link to the position of the phone in Google Maps. This app seems to be even more useful when you have kept your phone somewhere and unable to find it. The situations is worse when it is in silent mode and the phone would not ring even if you give a call to your number. But if you have this app installed, you can send a text to your phone with the secret code and the silent/vibrate mode will be disabled. The phone will then ring at the maximum volume possible! Make sure you change the default secret code. If it’s not, anyone else can frighten you with that loud ring of your phone 😉
3. Prey Anti-Theft
Prey is an open source, cross-platform anti-theft tracker. When your phone is stolen, you can send a text to your mobile with a secret code and this will enable WiFi Connect. Prey will attempt to hook onto to the nearest open WiFi hotspot when no Internet connection is found. If the SIM is changed, you will be sent a text to a number you specify with the details of the new SIM and new phone number, hence making it easy for you to track your Android phone.
4. NetQin Security & Anti-Virus
NetQin is quite similar to Lookout Security. It helps you monitor apps that access your private data without your permission. It allows you to easily back up and retrieve contacts and messages from your phone from the web even if you do not have access to your phone. It also helps you back up data on your phone, locate your phone remotely and also optimize your Android phone’s operating speed by closing unnecessary applications running in the background.

5. AntiDroidTheft
The functions of AntiDroid Theft are again the same as it uses the GPS functionality of your phone and lets you vie the location of your phone on Google Maps. Apart from this, it tracks changes to SIM Card or phone numbers. It also helps you track pictures taken from your phone from its official site.
Another app which I would like to mention is Mobile Defense who have currently suspended new sign ups but will be back soon.
Have I missed any other Android Phone Tracking Application? If yes, kindly let me know 🙂
