The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is the successor of the HTC Droid Incredible which was released a month ago and the one which was responsible for the exploding popularity of Android OS. Let me mention this first: The HTC Droid Incredible 2 operates on Android 2.2 Froyo. This is something which would take you back from buying it because the latest version of the OS, Gingerbread has already been released 6 months back so why does this phone still use Froyo? Anyway, lets check out some features of this phone:
Design
HTC is always known well for its design and this phone is not much different from its predecessor. Yes, but is thin but not as thin as the iPhone. The front side of the phone looks clean while the back of the phone contributes a higher figure of percentage to its look as it is quite smooth and subtle. The display is not the AMOLED one like its predecessor but it is a 4” Super LCD display with WVGA (480 x 800) resolution, polarizing on its own. So you don’t need to worry if you have to view the screen in the sunlight at different angles.
Something which makes this phone unique is the capacitive Android buttons which actually tilt according to the orientation of the phone though you might press them accidentally since they are quite close to the edge of the phone.
The front side has a 1.3 megapixel camera which is good for clicking your own pictures and also for video chatting.
The left edge of the phone has the micro USB port for charging and data connection with PC. On the top of the phone you can find the 3.5mm audio jack, second microphone and the power button.
At the rear you can find the 8 megapixel camera with dual LED flash whereas the Loudspeaker is present beside it. The lens of the camera is slightly elevated which might put you in a thought whether to keep it resting on its back or not. The back is rubbery and hence better in handling.
User Interface
It uses a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8655 Snapdragon processor with 768MB of RAM. This would actually make your operations smoother and easier. When you need to customize your Homescreenm, you can use the Andoroid or the standard HTC widgets. Moreover you have 7 homescreens which can be filled up with these widgets. I personally don’t like Android on phones but when it is HTC, they tweak it the right way to make the UI more friendly to the user.
Also you can add a widget called FriendStream from the Android Market which will give you updates of your friends from Facebook and Twitter. So you need not use any separate app for these two social media sites.
Connectivity
You have features like 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 with EDR, and mobile hotspot functionality as concerned wit the phone’s connectivity. The mobile hotspot functionality lets you share data conection with up to 5 Wi-Fi devices simultaneously. It also supports 3G enhancing your data connection to its maximum and this will also let you enjoy video chat with friends and family.
Price
The HTC Droid Incredible 2 is priced at $199.99 [.99 figure is present almost everywhere :P] I think it is worth the price but still if you can spend an extra $50 you can go for the HTC Thuderbolt.
Verdict
You can go for this phone if you are a Verizon lover and can manage with the Android 2.2 Froyo OS. The latest version of Android is not used on this phone which makes me prefer an iPhone as iOS users get the updates right away. What do you have to say about it?
