Install CyanogenMod 7 Nightlies on LG Optimus Black P970

CyanogenMod ROMs are one of the best custom ROMs for any Android device which run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. We had previously posted 2 tutorials to root LG Optimus Black. Most of you had been successful in rooting while a few were not successful. We are still researching on some methods to root LG Optimus Black which might be helpful to you. After rooting, you would like installing some custom ROMs and CyanogenMod ROMs are the best ones in the line up. In this tutorial we will tell you how to install Cyanogemod 7 on LG Optimus Black P970.

 Prerequisites

  • Back up all apps using Titanium Backup since you have already rooted your LG Optimus Black
  • Back up all contacts to SD card.
  • Backup SMS on Android.
  • Backup call log on Android.
  • Have minimum 60% charge on your phone.

Steps to Install Cyanogenmod 7

  1. Download Cyanogenmod 7 zip file for LG Optimus Black from here.
  2. Connect your phone to the Computer via USB
  3. Copy the downloaded zip file to the root of your SD card and not within any folder. After this disconnect your phone from the PC.
  4. Download the ROM Manager App. You can go ahead with the free version as the paid version of the app is not required for this tutorial.
  5. Tap on Flash ClockworkMod Recovery in the ROM Manager app which is the first option. This will install Clockworkmod Recovery on LG Optimus Black.
  6. Now again open ROM manager and tap “Rebot into recovery”.
  7. Once you are in the recovery mode, got to backup and restore and perform a nandroid backup.
  8. Go back and select wipe and then wipe all data/factory reset and wipe cache partition.
  9. Go back and select “install zip from SD card”>”Choose zip from SD card” and select the zip file you had copied to the root of your SD card in Step 3.
  10. Confirm in the next step and flash the zip file.
  11. Go back and select “Reboot system now”.
